Runtastic Bravehearts: Fit for a Good Cause

Runtastic Team Pushes Physical Limits for Bravehearts Charity at Braveheart Battle 2014

06 MARCH 2014, VIENNA, AUSTRIA
Summary
March 6, 2014 – This Saturday, a group of six from Runtastic – an innovative suite of apps, products and services that track and manage health and fitness data to motivate individuals to get in shape, stay healthy and improve overall fitness – will take on the infamous Braveheart Battle in Münnerstadt, Germany. The event is an extreme 28+ kilometer running event, including dozens of natural and manmade obstacles, which challenges the most wild sportsmen and women around to push their limits and raise philanthropic funds. The group has taken on this extreme challenge to get fit, have fun and raise funds for the Bravehearts Charity. The race begins at 11 a.m. CET on Saturday, March 8.

Training with Runtastic

Beginning in late 2013, the team of six young men began training with a variety of Runtastic apps and products to improve their endurance and build their strength. The team coordinated near daily workouts including long runs, interval runs, circuit training and strength training.  Over the past four months, the team has logged nearly 450 hours of training, covering over 1,300 kilometers and burning over a quarter of a million calories. Each individual tracked his runs and strength training with the Runtastic app, as well as the Fitness App Collection apps (Sit-Ups, Push-Ups, Pull-Ups and Squats).

“Our primary motivation was to do something that we’ve never done before. To push our physical limitations and also come together as a team,” said Thomas Auinger, Community & Media Manager at Runtastic, and ringleader of the Runtastic Bravehearts. “The most important thing is not the run itself, but the fact that we’re taking on something challenging and meaningful together – and making a difference for those in need.”

Fundraising for Bravehearts Charity with Ammado

And the preparation hasn’t only been physical.  The Runtastic Bravehearts also elected to support the Bravehearts Charity with their run on March 8. In late February, they set up an easy-to-use fundraising page on Ammado.com to garner support and donations.  Ammado provides a convenient tool for individuals and companies looking to raise funds for their favorite cause, offering not only the platform for an exchange of funds, but also a space for fundraisers to tell their stories and connect with like-minded people.

“One thing we really love about the Ammado platform is just how inclusive and convenient it is,” said Florian Gschwandtner, Runtastic CEO and Co-Founder. “When it comes to helping people and making the world a better place, we’re going to get much farther when the tools we offer to people are easy-to-use and not limited by international borders. Ammado is doing a lot of things right, and we’re excited to see how we can work together in the future.”
