“Over 50,000 users raved about Galaxy Gear and the selection of integrated apps in 2013,” said Florian Gschwandtner, CEO and Co-Founder of Runtastic. “We were pleased to be selected as an early access partner last year and feel confident that we were brought into the fold again in 2014 based on our quick and reliable development. We’re particularly excited to hear the buzz around the fitness elements of this year’s unpacking.”
During workouts, the Runtastic app sends tracking data from a user’s smartphone to Galaxy Gear via Bluetooth technology. Users can view many different activity metrics – and start and stop the app – straight on the device. Following a workout, users can save workout stats for later review on Runtastic.com, home of over 25 million registered Runtastic users.
“It’s exciting to offer users a variety ways in which they can use and enjoy our apps,” said Gschwandtner. “And this year’s gear is not only fresh and new, but also boasts a new technology platform.”
Galaxy Gear has been custom built to amplify the mobile experience. Apps can be purchased on your mobile device and transferred directly to the wearable. The square face offers a high-resolution, color display and touch-screen functionality. Users can navigate through menus and applications via short and long touches, and horizontal and vertical swipe gestures.
